MultiCultural Festival Celebration May 1-5

SALISBURY, MD---The fifth annual "Unity in the Community" Multicultural Festival is on Thursday, May 4. Free and open to the public, this year's kick-off activity, "Hands Around Campus," begins at 12:20 p.m., immediately after 11 a.m. classes. From 12:30-3 p.m. a variety of activities which includes SSU's Concert Choir, Delmar Elementary School Multicultural Choir, Steel Kings, Chinese Lion Dancers and Karate Club, O'Samba Afro-Brazilian Dance Company, Memory of African Culture presenting Djimo Kouyate and Tim Whittemore playing the Didjiridu. Participants can also have their photo taken in the Japanese photo booth located in the Pergola. From 9 p.m.-midnight, the Spanish Club holds their annual dance recognizing "Cinco De Mayo" in the Gulls Nest Pub.

Other Multicultural Festival Week activities include: County Line Dancing, Monday, May 1, sponsored by the Student Organization for Activity Planning; Jayamangala Dance Company performance, Tuesday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Caruthers Hall Auditorium; and O'Samba Dance performance on Wednesday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Caruthers Hall Auditorium, a Drum Circle immediately follows on Red Square.
