Jazz Brazz Big Band Performs May 6

SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury University Jazz Brazz Big Band pays tribute to Frank Sinatra during its annual spring concert 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, in Holloway Hall Auditorium. The performance is part of SU’s “The Magic of Music” spring music festival.

Conducted by Dr. Jerry Tabor, the band performs classics from Ol’ Blue Eyes, including “Come Fly With Me” and “Summer Wind,” sung by soloist Laurel Noone. Rounding out the concert are classics such as “How High the Moon” and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “If I Loved You,” featuring Lee Knier on trombone, as well as more modern pieces including the Brian Setzer Orchestra’s “Jumpin’ East of Java.”

Other selections include an up-tempo Latin version of Horace Silver’s “Nica’s Dream” and the 1970s funk tune “Pick Up the Pieces.” Featured saxophone soloist for the evening is Bryan Thom.
