Humor for the Health of It" Discussed by Elizabeth Rankin

SALISBURY, MD--  Dr. Elizabeth Rankin, a dynamic nurse educator internationally recognized for her expertise in stress management and women's psychological health, discusses "Humor for the Health of It" on Wednesday, May 1, at 7 p.m. at Salisbury University.

Part of SU's spring lecture series on humor, Rankin's talk is in the Wicomico Room in the Guerrieri University Center. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Rankin, a professor of nursing at SU, has been in the forefront of technological advances for education of nursing, with the initiation of a Network Independent Study in 1994 and, more recently, with Web courses for graduate and undergraduate nursing students.

She was instrumental in the production of the award-winning video, "Menopause Management: A Guide for Nurses." In January 2001, her book, Quick Reference for Psychopharmacology, was recognized with an American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year award.

She has published extensively and presented numerous papers, workshops and seminars. She has received many honors including Outstanding Educator for the State of Maryland and Who's Who in America, and was included in the first edition of Who's Who in Medicine and Health Care. Last fall she was honored with a Distinguished Faculty award at SU.

She is one of the first nurses to become a Diplomat of the National Board of Certified Hypnotherapists.
