Heinold Discusses 'Beautiful Images from Some Simple Formulas' at SU

Dr. Brian HeinholdSALISBURY, MD---Dr. Brian Heinold, associate professor of mathematics and computer science at Mount St. Mary’s University, discusses “Beautiful Images from Some Simple Formulas” 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Salisbury University.

His presentation is in Perdue Hall’s Bennett Family Auditorium. A reception follows in Perdue Hall Room 149.

Heinhold showcases unexpected images that come from discontinuous functions when coloring contour maps of functions of two variables and from iterating functions in the complex pane. Those attending will learn how to generate such images and why they look the way they do.

Sponsored by SU’s Mathematics and Computer Science Department, admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6140 or visit the SU website at www.salisbury.edu.
