Gourdmaking Workshop at Nabb Research Center

SALISBURY, MD---The Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury University presents a Native American cultural workshop Monday, April 28.

The topic for the workshop is gourdmaking. Chief Dawn Manyfeathers, of Eden, MD, demonstrates the Native American art of curing, dressing and decorating gourds. She is director of the Lenapehauken Educational and Research Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to public education about the Eastern Woodland Indians.

Gourds served a practical function as bowls and storage vessels in Native American cultures. They are durable and prized through the centuries.

Workshops are from 1-3:30 p.m. or 5-7:30 p.m. The cost is $25.

Class sizes are limited and reservations are required. There is a $5 per program discount for SU students and Nabb Research Center members.
