Foust Named Associate Vice President of Student Affairs

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Dane Foust, formerly of Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA, is the new associate vice president of student affairs at Salisbury University.

Foust served as dean of students at Mount Aloysius starting in July 1998. In addition to his administrative duties there, he co-chaired the college’s Middle States reaccredidation in October 2005. During the spring 2005 semester he served as director of student life for the Semester-at-Sea program, a 100-day global education voyage circumnavigating the earth.

At SU, he hopes to see the Student Affairs Office create more collaborations both on and off campus. “There is a lot of great opportunity to work with the students, the community and the faculty to build almost a seamless learning environment,” he said, adding SU could be beneficial to the community in offering wellness education and other programs.

He believes these programs could help enhance SU’s already renowned reputation, which he has heard about for years: “SU has a terrific reputation, even as far as Pennsylvania.”

Prior to his employment at Mount Aloysius, Foust served as director of residential community life at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oneonta, NY, overseeing 14 residence halls that housed 2,300 students.  He also was the assistant and associate director of residence life at Penn State University, a system housing 13,000 students.

Foust holds an Ed.D. in higher education administration from Penn State University. He earned his Master of Arts in student affairs in higher education and his Bachelor of Arts in public relations and journalism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

As associate vice president, Foust is responsible for providing leadership in the division’s assessment and fiscal management areas as well as directly overseeing Student Counseling Services, Student Health Services, Career Services and Disability Services.

“Salisbury is in a growth mode right now,” he said. “It’s really exciting to be part of that.”

Foust resides in Salisbury with his wife, Gretchen, and their children Derek, 12, and Alyssa, 10. For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu. "
