Fourth Annual Web Development Institute Scheduled

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s fourth annual Web Development Institute, Sunday-Wednesday, July 13-16, focuses on the latest Internet technology for higher education institutions and others in the Web development field.

 

This year’s theme, “The I’s Have It: Campus Internet Integration,” covers a wide range of topics from how to put a user-friendly catalog online to what type of content management systems are best for organizations to Internet portals. The institute is open to all Web development professionals.

 

Keynote speakers are Sean Carton, chief experience officer and managing partner of Carton Donofrio Partners, and Maria Mullin, project leader of the University of Delaware’s Web Resources Group.

 

Carton presents “Low Budgets, High Expectations” Monday, July 14, speaking on how to get the most out of technologies using available funding. Mullin presents “uPortal: An Open Source Portal for Education by Education” Tuesday, July 15, discussing Delaware’s portal, UD&me.

 

Other sessions include “CMS on the Cheap,” “Usability Case Study,” “Isn’t My Style Guide a Web Policy?” “I2E: Inquiry to Enrollment,” “Has Your Brand Promise Made It to the Web?” “Tips and Tricks for a One-Person Web Shop,” “Micro-Site, Major Connections,” “Virginia Military Institute and Estrada Web Technology” and “AEP – Dynamic Catalog.”

 

Hands-on workshops include “Introduction to Flash ActionScript,” “Step-by-Step Web Policies,” “Connecting an Access Database in ASP” and “Web Site Rx.”

Cost of the conference is $150 for sessions and meals plus $75 per workshop.

 

The conference fee includes a continental breakfast, lunch and breaks Monday-Tuesday, July 14-15; a buffet dinner in Ocean City, MD, Monday, July 14; transportation to buffet dinners; a T-shirt; conference materials and e-mail access.
