Conscious Presence On Display in Cool Beans

SALISBURY, MD---The Cool Beans Cyber Café at Salisbury University is featuring works by painting students of Professor Jinchul Kim of SU’s Art Department.

The exhibit, in response to the events of September 11, features student works that directly or indirectly attempt to address the recent tragedy.

Curated by Kim, exhibit works are mostly in the realism-representational style although the subject matter and painting styles vary immensely.

“The one thing that all the works have in common,” said Kim, “is the need to create in the face of obliteration, a drive which defines our humanity.”

Student works showcased are: Sasaha Blanton, Zara Venegas, Rachel Woodard, Tim Lang, Candice Caderson, David Simpson, Petra Bernstein, Louise Essick, Ted Laure, Jennifer Kolendowicz, Bob Schaller, Caroline Aubin and Cheryl Ann Hartnett.

The show continues through December 5. An opening reception will be held on Friday, November 16, from 6-8 p.m. in Cool Beans.
