Children's Theatre Performs Night Creatures Dec. 1-2

SALISBURY, MD----The Bobbi Biron Theatre Program of Salisbury State University presents the first play to be offered by the newly established, all-student, Children’s Theatre Ensemble. Night Creatures will be performed in the Black Box Theatre in SSU’s Fulton Hall on Friday, December 1, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 2, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. All ages are welcome.

Night Creatures is a story of a boy named Gus and his encounters with several creatures of the night (the Toothfairy, Gerard the Ghost, Olive the Owl, Wonder Witch and the Sandman) while trying to solve the mystery of his missing tooth.

The Children’s Theatre Ensemble, a new program being offered by the Bobbi Biron Theatre Program of SSU, began rehearsals in September. Dr. T. Paul Pfeiffer, director of theatre, initiated the idea for an all-student children’s theatre company with the idea of developing a community outreach program to bring theatre to the children on the Eastern Shore. The student ensemble includes Katie Profili, Jessica Banner, Peter Rouleau, Megan Terrill, Justin Gallo, Teresa Healey-Conway, Jennifer Livingston, Cindy Worth, Jenn Watkins, Amber Wilkinson and Cate Sheehy.

The Children’s Theatre Ensemble was made possible, in part, by a grant from the Salisbury/Wicomico Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. Its goal is to bring live theatre to children on the Eastern Shore by touring schools, park districts, libraries and malls in the area by early 2001. A brochure, announcing play offerings by the Children’s Theatre Ensemble for the spring semester, will be available in early 2001. For more information on the Children’s Theatre Ensemble contact Pat Ambler-Perry through the SSU Communication Arts Office at 410-548-6229.

Admission for Night Creatures is $5, free for SSU ID holders. Please call the Theatre Box Office for reservations and information at 410-548-6228. Reservations will be held until 15 minutes prior to show time.
