Burton Speaks on Seniors and Prescription Drugs April 26

SALISBURY, MD---A presentation focusing on issues surrounding the use of prescription drugs by senior citizens is presented on Monday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Worcester Room of the Commons at Salisbury University.  Admission is free and the public is cordially invited.

Dr. John Burton, Mason F. Lord Professor of Medicine and director of the Johns Hopkins Geriatric Education Center located at Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital in Baltimore, presents a talk titled “Medication Use in the Older Adult: Necessity and Expense.”  He will discuss the implications of prescription drug use in terms of costs and an update on legislative initiatives addressing the problem.

Burton’s visit is sponsored by the SU Department of Nursing in the Henson School of Science and Technology and the Johns Hopkins Geriatric Education Center. Light refreshments will be served and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for nursing and social work awarded.
