SU Students Attend National Student Government Institute

SALISBURY, MD---Six executive board members of the Salisbury University Student Government Association (SGA) recently attended the Student Government Institute at the University of Colorado, Denver.

Hosted each summer by the National Association for Campus Activities, the event brings together collegiate SGA representatives and advisors from across the country to learn from each other, share best practices, and prepare for the year ahead.

SGA members attending from SU included Vice President Annie Libertin of Salisbury; Chief Justice Aniyah Cropper of Salisbury; Finance Director Camden Tanguay of Glen Arm, MD; Marketing and Communications Director Claire Knauss of Goldsboro, MD; Diversity and Inclusion Director Julio Rivera of Gaithersburg, MD; and Sustainability Director Quinn Subers of Felton, DE; along with advisor Tricia Garvey Smith.

During the institute, students explored topics including shared governance, advocacy, and difficult conversations before creating advocacy campaigns for their respective campuses and participating in a “futuring” activity during which they created five-year plans for their associations.
