By SU Public Relations

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Ryan Shifler, associate dean of Salisbury University’s Richard A. Henson School of Science and Technology and associate professor of mathematics; senior mathematics major Connor Bean, of Crownsville, MD; and SU alumnus Bradley Cruikshank of Denton, MD, recently published the paper “Curve Neighborhoods and Combinatorial Property O for a Family of Odd Symplectic Partial Flag Manifolds” in the Rocky Mountain Journal of Mathematics.

The paper and connected research provided experiential learning opportunities for Bean and Cruikshank as they pioneered new mathematics beyond the pages of their textbooks and gained a rare undergraduate level delve into in-depth mathematics at complex graduate levels. The article is available (download the PDF) at the Rocky Mountain Journal of Mathematics.

Their three-year ongoing work, supported by the Henson Summer Research Program, has been presented at SU’s Student Research Conference, Posters on the Bay and Summer Research Showcase.
