SU Foundation Supports Ballet on the Beach Dance Festival September 23

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University's Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts and the Salisbury University Foundation, Inc. provide support for the inaugural Ballet on the Beach Dance Festival Sunday, September 24, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.

Pre-performance activities begin at 4 p.m., with a performance from 5-6:30 p.m.

The festival includes performances by the New York-based Continuum Contemporary Ballet, featuring the choreography of directing artist Donna Salgado and works by guest choreographer Eric Trope. Also featured are performances by Georgina Pazcoguin, “The Rogue Ballerina,” former soloist with the New York City Ballet, as well as artists from the Washington Ballet, Ballet Theatre of Maryland and Eastern Shore Ballet Theatre.

In addition, audience members will learn about the history of Assateague Island, its famous wild ponies, volunteer opportunities and the coastal bays watershed from Megan Rhode, assistant park manager of Assateague Island State Park; Chris Seymore, Assateague Costal Trust board member; and Greg Atkin, community engagement specialist with the Maryland Coastal Bays Program.

Assateague Island State Park co-sponsors the event. Additional support is provided by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore; Friends of Assateague State Park; the Eastern Shore Ballet Theatre, Inc.; and OCMD Hotels.

Funding for this event is in part provided by the Worcester County Arts Council, Maryland State Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts, organizations dedicated to cultivating vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive.
