SU Hosts Poverty Simulation Workshop April 29

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University hosts a Poverty Simulation Workshop 1-4 p.m. Saturday, April 29, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri Student Union.

The poverty simulation is a highly interactive experience designed to help participants begin to understand what a typical low-income family experiences trying to survive from month to month.

In the simulation, participants assume the roles of family members living in poverty. Volunteers play the roles of service providers and other community resources (e.g., bank, employer, grocery, landlord, school, childcare, law enforcement, and social service agencies). The main goal of the simulation is to help create greater awareness of and sensitivity to the challenges faced by individuals living in poverty.

Admission is free and the public is invited, but registration is required. For more information or to register call 410-546-6218.

Those planning to park on campus must register in advance for a free parking pass.
