One Maryland One Book Author Speaks at SU

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University hosts a lecture, question-and-answer session and book signing with this year’s One Maryland One Book author, Tommy Orange, 7 p.m. Thursday, October 12, in the Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons Assembly Hall.

This year’s One Maryland One Book pick is There There. Released in 2018, it tells interconnected stories of a cast of 12 Native American characters from across generational lines, as they converge toward the Big Oakland Powwow. Together, the stories provide a riveting portrait of the urban Indian experience. 

There There was one of The New York Times Book Review’s 10 Best Books of the Year and won the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize, as well as the PEN/Hemingway Award. 

The event is introduced by Dr. Céline Carayon, SU associate professor of history, and moderated by Dr. Isabel Quintana Wulf, assistant professor of English and director of SU’s American Studies Program.    

Admission is free and the public is invited. Those planning to park on campus must register in advance for a free parking pass
