SU's Mills Earns National Health Education Scholarship

By SU Public Relations

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University senior Kaci Mills was named a 2023 Helen P. Cleary Scholarship recipient by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.

“Kaci is a stellar public health student who upholds the high standards set in the discipline,” said Dr. Brandye Nobiling, professor and SU Public Health Program director. “She is a passionate emerging leader in public health and has a bright future ahead."

The scholarship is designed to assist students with the fees associated with preparing and testing for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) examination.  Mills, a public health major from Salisbury, is one of three recipients nationwide.

“It’s an honor to earn this scholarship,” said Mills. “Not all public health professionals, especially recent graduates, have the CHES certification. To have the opportunity to test without financial obligations not only will help me showcase my expertise, but will help my resume stand out to future employers.”

Recipients are approaching graduation, demonstrate a passion for public health, and have accomplishments and service in the field of health education during academic studies.

“I hope to focus on behavioral health after graduation and eventually obtain my graduate degree,” said Mills. “SU has prepared me every step of the way to achieve my goals. The support and encouragement, both academically and personally, allows you to believe in yourself and go for things you never thought you could, like this scholarship.”
