Important SU Face Mask Policy Update

Dear Campus Community,

As we prepare for a full slate of in-person classes and events, we wanted to reiterate the critical importance of maintaining our collective vigilance against the spread of COVID-19.

Effective Wednesday, August 25, all students, employees and visitors will be required to wear a mask in public indoor SU spaces and while using University transportation, regardless of vaccination status, placing our policies in line with those at most other University System of Maryland institutions. For unvaccinated individuals, masks also are required while outdoors in crowded spaces. Additionally, every member of our campus community – students, faculty and staff -- is expected to comply with the University System of Maryland vaccine mandate. Followed effectively, these two protocols can help ensure a vibrant and engaging fall semester. The SU COVID-19 Task Force will closely monitor vaccination rates and transmission data, as well as other factors, and will re-evaluate this mask requirement in two weeks.

From the very beginning of this pandemic, Salisbury University has followed national, state and county health guidance, and we will continue to do so.

Our goal remains the same: to provide the safest possible environment for every member of our campus community.

Additional Masking Guidance

•    Free disposable face masks are available in the Great Hall, Holloway Hall.
•    Instructors and presenters who are fully vaccinated may choose to remove their mask while teaching or speaking to a group, provided they can maintain physical distancing of at least six feet from all other persons at all times and everyone in the audience is masked. Face shields are available through Campus Health.
•    More information on proper mask wearing can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/about-face-coverings.html.

COVID-19 Testing

Members of the campus community who are unvaccinated, regardless of exemption status, are required to comply with regular, twice-weekly testing. PCR testing will be available for all students and employees by appointment.

Our high vaccination rate, the low number of COVID-19 cases on our campus and your continued adherence to our masking and vaccine protocols will help us all enjoy a safe, in-person experience this semester.
