SU Music Faculty Join St. Peter's Church for Easter Services

St. Peter's Episcopal ChurchSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University music faculty join St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in downtown Salisbury for two Easter services at 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday, April 4.

Dr. John Wesley Wright, associate professor of music and director of the SU Opera Workshop, serves as cantor, singing spirituals and other sacred music prior to and during the liturgies.

A brass quartet of trumpets and trombones with musicians Lee Knier, SU music lecturer and director of the Salisbury Pops; Bill Williams; Brandon Williams; and Will Kichty performs outdoors between the two services.

Also accompanying is a percussion ensemble with Eric Shuster, SU music lecturer and director of the SU Percussion Ensemble; SU students Elijah Fallon and Donnell Robinson; and Will Burdett.

Performances include a virtual choir rendition of the anthem “Hallelujah!” from George Frederic Handel’s Messiah.

Because social distancing and masks are required, St. Peter’s can seat only 40-50 people per service in the nave. For advance reservations for any of the church’s Easter and Holy Week services, register online.

The church will accommodate walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis. Services also will be livestreamed on its website and Facebook pages.
