COCM Assumes Management of University Park Apartments

University Park ApartmentsSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University and the Maryland Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO) have selected COCM (Capstone On-Campus Management), a Birmingham, AL-based student housing firm, to manage University Park Apartments (UPA).

COCM assumed management of the community in March of 2020. The firm will provide full turn-key management services for the project, with SU supporting the leasing efforts by promoting UPA as an option for its second-year students.

"With more than a decade and a half of management experience in partnership with dozens of campuses, COCM is an ideal management partner for University Park," said Dr. Dane Foust, SU vice president of student affairs. "With thousands of college-aged residents at its properties nationwide, (COCM) understands the needs of today's students."

UPA consists of garden-style apartments, with primarily four-bedroom/two-bathroom and two-bedroom/two-bathroom units for a total of 890 beds. It was constructed in two phases, with the 578-bed "phase one" completed in 2000 and an additional 312 beds added in 2004. Amenities include community lounges, spacious units, a fitness center, grilling areas, a sparkling pool, computer labs, printing stations and a sand volleyball court.

COCM is working with MEDCO and the University to improve the resident experience by developing and implementing a comprehensive capital improvement plan to improve building systems and interior finishes, ensuring the long-term viability and success of the community.

"We look forward to the upgrades COCM is planning, and I think our students will be pleased with them, as well," said Foust.

COCM's student housing professionals are focused on providing management and consulting services for on-campus housing communities. The company manages over 37,000 student housing beds on 38 campuses in 16 states.
