Spotlight on Student Workers: Katie Hopwood

Katie Hopwood

Katie Hopwood is a junior from Carroll County, MD. She chose SU because when she “visited it was a place where I loved the campus and all it had to offer. I just felt like it was the place where I should be for college.” She admitted, however, that she also chose it because of its nearness to the beach.

Katie majors in theatre - production with minors in communications as well as conflict analysis and dispute resolution. She is a stage manager and “very passionate about theatre” and loves the people she gets to work with “and all the new/ever-changing experiences that come with live performance.” After graduation, Katie hopes to attend graduate school or start a career in theatre. She would love to move to the Washington area for its good theatre environment and professional opportunities.

Katie has worked for the SU Libraries at the Curriculum Resource Center (CRC) for a year and a half and recently joined the SU Libraries’ Social Media Committee. She enjoys getting to meet the people who come into the CRC and learning about their lives. She also enjoys her co-workers, noting that the CRC’s coordinator, Stephen Ford, and its technician, Iris Jenkins, have created “a great work environment that is very supportive and encouraging.” Working at the Libraries has helped her academically, making her more aware of “all the tools that the library has to offer” and of the academic support programs SU provides for students.

Please stop by the CRC some time and meet Katie and our other CRC staff and student workers.
