Information Literacy Partner of the Month
April/May 2020
Congratulations to Dr. Dean Ravizza of the Department of Secondary and Physical Education, who is the SU Libraries’ Information Literacy Partner of the Month for April-May. This is what Caroline Eckardt, Research/Instructional Librarian and liaison to the Physical Education program, wrote in nominating him:
Dr. Ravizza has consistently worked with the library during my time here at Salisbury University, bringing me in to work with his PHED 400 course every spring semester. In this class, which focuses on adapted physical education, we work with the students to connect their growing information literacy skills to their future work as practitioners in the field of physical education. This semester, even through all of its changes in moving to an online environment, was no different. Dr. Ravizza was intent on providing a similar experience to his students, working with me to create tutorial videos for his students to watch and practice their IL skills as they worked on their research assignments. His students are fortunate to have such a dedicated professor.
It is for this willingness to creatively work with librarians to help students engage with information sources that we have chosen Dr. Ravizza as the SU Libraries’ Information Literacy Partner of the Month for April-May.
In addition to recognizing Dr. Ravizza on the SU Libraries’ website and social media, we also will purchase a book in a field of his choice to be added to the Libraries’ collection in his honor.
