Information Literacy Partner of the Month

February/March 2017

Congratulations to Prof. Laura Marinaro of the Health and Sport Sciences Department, who is the SU Libraries’ Information Literacy Partner of the Month for February-March.  This is what Caroline Eckardt, Research/Instructional Services Librarian and liaison to Health and Sport Sciences, wrote in nominating her:

Laura teaches in the Department of Health & Sport Sciences and asks to bring her HLTH 317: Nutrition, Health, and Human Performance class to the library each semester. In this session, we explore subject-specific databases and advanced search techniques not typically covered in other sessions, as well as ways to evaluate different types of scientific literature. Students ultimately walk away with a better understanding of not only what's expected of them for the project at hand, but also of how to conduct good research within their field. It's always a pleasure to work with Laura and her students during the semester.
Caroline Eckardt Research/Instructional Librarian

It is for this willingness to creatively work with librarians to help students develop a comfort level with the library that we have chosen Prof. Marinaro as the SU Libraries’ Information Literacy Partner of the Month for February-March.

In addition to recognizing Prof. Marinaro on the SU Libraries’ website and social media, we also will purchase a book in a field of her choice to be added to the Libraries’ collection in her honor.
