Information Literacy Partner of the Month

November/December 2015

Congratulations to Leanne Wood, Assistant Professor of Music and Assistant Director of the Bellavance Honors Program, and Lauren Hill, Lecturer in Honors, who are the SU Libraries’ Information Literacy Partners of the Month for November-December. Angeline Prichard, librarian liaison to the Bellavance Honors Program, nominated them, noting she was nominating them jointly:

for their work with the library for the Honors 111 courses, of which there are five sections this semester. Both Lauren and Leanne were incredibly willing to experiment with different options for the sessions and committed to bringing all five sections twice for full instruction sessions. These dual sessions allowed us to get into much deeper detail of not only how the library works and what services are provided, but key information literacy concepts to aid the students in their research project for the semester. The students’ research work ultimately culminated in presenting at a multi-day SU honors research conference. It was a privilege to be so involved with these very hardworking students and with two such enthusiastic and dedicated instructors and to see their research presented at the end.

It is for this willingness to creatively work with librarians to help their students develop a strong foundation of research skills that we have chosen Professors Wood and Hill as the SU Libraries’ Information Literacy Partners of the Month. In addition to recognizing them on the SU Libraries’ website and social media, we also will purchase a book in each of their fields of study to be added to the Libraries’ collection in their honor.
