I believe that adult learners require a teaching environment that promotes learning. As an educator, it my job to not only share my knowledge but to promote critical thinking and creativity. My approach is to recognize individual differences and promote learning through multiple methodologies.

Study of theory related to the prevention and nursing care of individuals and families with psychosocial problems. Focuses on communication with clients in community and hospital settings with emphasis on mental illness in rural areas. Considers mental health needs of all age groups with special regard for cultural differences. Prerequisites: NURS 310, 311, 312, 319, 329 with a C or better. Corequisite: NURS 381. Three hours per week.
Focuses on principles of teaching and learning for diverse learners across the lifespan. Various innovative technologies and effective teaching strategies are examined for the classroom, clinical or lab setting to facilitate the achievement of cognitive, affective and psychomotor learning outcomes. Prerequisite/Corequisite: NURS 575. Three hours per week.
NURS 578 NURSE EDUCATOR PRACTICUM (Fall 2019)
Focuses on development of competence in the nurse educator role. Practicum experiences are designed to provide opportunities to engage in curriculum development, apply effective assessment and teaching strategies, and evaluate learner and program outcomes in selected educational settings. Prerequisites: NURS 570, 575, 576. Three hours per week.
