Courtney Harned

Bio

Dr. Courtney Poulson Harned is an assistant professor in the Department of Leadership and Literacy Studies. Her research interests include literacy in rural schools, socio-culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy, and connections between classroom practice and literacy scholarship. She teaches courses in literacy theory, US education policy, and research seminar. Dr. Harned is an active member of the International Literacy Association and serves as a reviewer for a peer-reviewed journal. A former high school teacher, literacy coach, and coordinator of English Education at the university level, she is committed to supporting educators in developing as literacy leaders within their schools and districts.
