At Salisbury University, we make it easy for community college students to find the right fit to continue their studies. Community College of Baltimore County and Salisbury University are committed to expanding education opportunities and providing a smooth transition for students wishing to earn an associate and a baccalaureate degree. The goal of the agreement with CCBC is to facilitate smooth transition into SU’s Bachelor of Science program in medical laboratory science. However, rest assured that if you are not in a cooperating program, SU will work with you to help you meet your goals.

Our Programs

SU offers one program in cooperation with CCBC. However, other options are available to CCBC students who wish to transfer to SU.

Medical Laboratory Science
In our MLS program, you will get real-world experience: You will practice under the guidance of professionals and have an opportunity to pursue internships in hospitals throughout the region. Following completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take national certification examinations that are recognized by employers.

With our program, you may have a variety of options for career paths or continuing education. Many of our students incorporate additional science courses into their studies to allow for admission into medicine, forensics and pharmacy schools.

CCBC students can complete the Associate of Applied Science in medical laboratory technology to seek admission into SU’s Bachelor of Science in medical laboratory science program. After applying to SU, you will be granted automatic admission as a medical laboratory science major as long as you:
- are admitted into the University
- have an overall GPA of at least 3.0
- apply for admission to the SU program upon completion of your last semester of the CCBC program
- pass the medical laboratory technician examination given by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
Students who have not yet passed the ASCP exam or have a GPA lower than 3.0 will not receive automatic admission but will still be considered. You must earn at least a C in articulated courses for the credits to be accepted for transfer.
