Core Functions

The SPA Committee will be guided by four core functions: advising leadership, consulting across the division, training, and monitoring.

Advising leadership on priorities

§  advising the vice president and associate vice president on the prioritizing, planning and implementation of assessment activities
§  assisting the associate vice president and unit directors with identifying assessment opportunities
Consulting §  consulting with associate vice president and units on designing assessment tools
§  assisting units with developing, maintaining, and updating assessment plans
§  assisting units in the development and implementation of learning outcomes and assessment plans for the division
§  providing assistance to staff responsible for unit’s learning outcomes and assessment activities
Training §  developing, planning, and assisting associate vice president with assessment training and professional development
Monitoring §  establishing and monitoring a cycle of assessment and reporting
§  collecting from departments and maintain data on learning outcomes and assessment

The committee shares in accountability for the success of the assessment program in the division and evaluates its effectiveness in supporting the division’s mission and strategic directions.
