The AVP is responsible for providing effective strategic vision and leadership in all areas of human resource management. Responsibilities include hands-on oversight and management of the University’s human resource activities including:

  • Development and implementation of human resources policies, programs and services
  • Recruitment, selection, and retention
  • Employee and labor relations as well as union negotiations
  • Employment practices and procedures
  • Staff communications
  • Performance, compensation and benefits management
  • Staff training and compliance with federal and state labor/employment laws & regulations
  • Legal and BOR USM policies/procedures compliance

Also serves as internal consultant to University's management team, supervisors and staff on personnel issues.

Wendy provides direction and oversight for departmental daily operations:

  • Front Office customer service and support
  • Classification/Compensation (to include job analysis, salary surveys and performance management)
  • Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)

As well as guidance and support for all other HR functions.

She provides consultative direction to constituents on HR best practices, assists in the development & administration of human resources policies & procedures and acts in the stead of the AVP in his absence.

Cynthia is responsible for providing professional level support with respect to the development, implementation, and administration of the Classification/Compensation and HRIS function.

  • Review and evaluate Position Descriptions for vacancy and Job Analysis requests. Assist with market survey and analysis projects as well as data analytics and reporting.
  • Oversee and/or lead the contractual faculty, staff, and student contract process.
  • HRIS includes maintenance of HRIS and employee records; enter and review HRIS entries to ensure data integrity; coordinate and prepare data files for transmission; conduct and/or coordinate required testing; create queries and prepare reports from databases
  • Contingent II and FTNTT employment contract process

As appropriate will also provide support for faculty and staff matters related to various HR functional areas and HR-facets of the employment life-cycle.

Nadalyne is responsible for benefit administration and she provides assistance in supporting and maintaining HR programs and functions to include:

  • Provides consultative services to faculty, staff and retirees on the variety of benefits programs
  • Processes benefits related transactions to include enrollment, correspondence, employee presentations, health fairs, tuition remission, etc.
  • Liaison with the State of Maryland Employee Benefits Division (EBD), State Retirement and other Retirement and benefit plan vendors
  • Classification/Compensation for nonexempt positions
  • Benefit (to include Tuition Remission) and Wellness administration
  • HRIS and other maintenance of related records
