SU’s Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence (CAFE) supports faculty and staff through our four pillars: (1) Teaching and Pedagogy, (2) Research and Scholarship, (3) Professional Development, and (4) Personal Wellness.
Minimalist Mindfulness: Meditations on Everyday Happiness sessions are designed to help participants through a practice of meditation, observation, immersion, and reflection to:
- reduce mental clutter and live in the moment
- replace stress and anxiety with letting go
- reframe struggle with acceptance of change
- recenter goals with purpose and self-awareness
Taught by Dr. Vinita Agarwal, Professor of Communication and Certified Health and Well-Being Coach (Duke Health, USA). Dr. Agarwal is a lifelong meditator anchored in the Buddhist tradition of Vipassana meditation with a background in Ayurvedic lifestyle and wellness (Ayurvedic Wellness Educator, Center for Integrative Medicine, UMD, USA; Ayurveda for Health Practitioners, Institute of Integrative Ayurveda Medical Education, IA, USA; Advanced Ayurvedic Diet and Nutrition, International Academy of Ayurveda, India). Dr. Agarwal has presented similar mental health and well-being sessions interweaving her minimalist mindfulness practice and philosophy by invitation from the National Communication Association.
