This is the site that hosts the Guide to Conservation Careers in Maryland, one of the primary inspirations for the creation of the Green Futures Program (the full report is embedded on our home page). The website breaks down the larger report to help you find your fit and gain skills to compete for impactful green careers.
Environmental Defense Fund’s Green Jobs Hub
Like our own SUGCI, the EDF’s jobs hub consolidates some excellent search resources and information. The EDF is one of the largest and oldest environmentalist nonprofit groups in the US with global offices and programs. EDF’s “Degrees” podcast

Green Jobs Network & Green Jobs Search
International network featuring several different jobs boards (“green jobs,” “climate jobs,” “social impact jobs”) as well as the ability to filter jobs by over 15 categories of jobs (e.g. “energy efficiency jobs,” “sustainable agriculture jobs” “wind energy jobs”). Thy also host internship boards, newsletters and other resources.

LinkedIn Sustainability Jobs, LinkedIn Climate Change Jobs, LinkedIn Environmental Jobs
LinkedIn holds spectacular sway in today’s job market, and the three boards linked here contain over 300,000 current jobs postings. Sort them all by location, minimum experience, salary, and other filters.
Green Dreams Jobs
One of the oldest dedicated green jobs boards, sustainablebusiness.com boasts “opportunities in climate change, solar, wind and other renewable energy sectors, along with jobs in sustainability management, pollution prevention, green building, the organic industry and green jobs that restore our ecosystems through conservation and policy.”
Climate Base
“Make Climate Your Career” would have been a pretty good tagline for the GFP. But Climate Base got there first! They have many climate related jobs from across the world.
Conservation Jobs Board
Bills itself as “The world’s largest and most-visited career website in conservation, ecology, forestry, wildlife, and fisheries.”
Idealist.org
Jobs, internships, volunteer opportunities, events, and organizations. Idealist has lasted for decades as a premier place to look for employment in the nonprofit sector.
North American Association for Environmental Education
A wide variety of environmentally-focused internships, fellowships, and jobs. Both throughout U.S. and international opportunities.
The Student Conservation Association
The best site to look for internships in the National parks, National Forests, USFWS, etc. -- they are usually NOT paid, but food and housing are supplied. Some positions are specifically for grad students.
Ed’s Clean Energy Jobs List
Specializing in energy and technology jobs in the private and nonprofit sectors. You can subscribe to the entry level list for free (i.e. jobs requiring less than five years professional experience—perfect for college students and recent grads!).
American Fisheries Society
A national, but specifically fisheries-related, job board that also hosts helpful general online job search resources. There are also some nice pictures of fish scattered about.
Higher Ed Jobs
National list of jobs in all things higher education. There are lots of sustainability jobs in higher education, and most come with add on benefits and perks associated with working on a college campus.
Maryland and Regional Green Job Boards
Chesapeake Network
This is perennial favorite of many SU alumni with green jobs, internships, scholarships, and volunteering opportunities in our region. Chesapeake Network hosts a wonderful job board (you have to register to access it, but it’s free), and is a frequently updated source of jobs in MD, DE, VA, PA, and DC. Start each day with a digest of new jobs delivered directly to your email inbox.

Government Jobs
Maryland State Jobs
Maryland’s job site for all state employment. Tip: the site allows for both key-word and “full text” search of the database. Most will find “full text” searches a bit easier to manage. For example, when searching “environmental justice” in “keywords” setting I received no job results. But the same search in “full text” yielded a position starting at $100,000. Big difference! Every state (including DE, PA, Va, NJ) have some kind job search function.
USA Jobs
The federal government job search site. You can search by agency, keywords, location, and other filter functions. Tip: talk to SU Career Services about how to format a federal resume (they use a specific format).
Americorps
AmeriCorps engages more than 80,000 Americans in intensive service each year at 21,600 unique sites including nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country. A wide range of opportunities across the nation. Good experience in national service while earning a living stipend as well as money to put toward school costs/loans.Tip: SU’s Institute of Public Affairs and Civic Engagement hosts an Americorps State Program called Shorecorps.
