The Classic Catalog and Research Port have been in use since 2002. While Research Port will sunset at the end of 2018, the Classic Catalog serves a unique purpose in locating SU Libraries resources, as well as resources from other University System of Maryland libraries.
You can use the Classic Catalog to find books, e-books, CDs, DVDs, and journals owned by SU Libraries and other libraries in the USM, as well as many Special Collections items unique to SU Libraries. The Classic Catalog does not allow you to search for individual journal or magazine articles.
For a broader search that includes some databases, journal articles, and other e-resources as well as most everything in the Classic Catalog, you should use the main search boxes on the library homepage. These search boxes will help you avoid doing multiple searches, but they may not show you every single item owned by SU Libraries.
Research Port lets you search databases by subject category, as well as all of the e-journals that you have access to which are not actually owned by SU Libraries. Research Port will no longer be available starting January 2019. You should use our A-Z Database List to find databases. To search across a selection of multiple databases, you should use the main search boxes on the library homepage. To search all of our e-journals, you should use our Journal Search tool.
