In-depth study of changes that occur due to acute and chronic exercise and the influence of aging on these processes. Examination of physiologic differences among individuals with various medical conditions. Behavioral modification counseling skills for various populations are developed. Prerequisites: EXSC 240, 250, 344. Four hours per week.
EXSC 472 STRESS TEST & EXER PRESCRI (Fall 2019)
Presents practical as well as theoretical knowledge about the various modes and protocols used in graded exercise testing, basic electrocardiography and exercise prescription based on testing results. Laboratory sessions provide opportunities for students to gain practical experience in performing various physiological testing procedures. May not receive credit for both EXSC 472 and EXSC 481. Prerequisites: C or better in EXSC 240, 250, 295, 344. Three hours lecture, 2 hours lab per week.
EXSC 479 INTERNSHIP IN EXERCISE SCI (Fall 2019)
Internship experience designed to provide students with an opportunity to gain real-world experience in exercise science settings. Students must select an internship experience site and complete 375 hours of work, completing assignments as outlined in the Exercise Science Internship Manual. Prerequisites: EXSC 333, 344 and 90 credit hours or departmental approval. Corequisite: EXSC 480. 37.5 hours per credit. (P/F)
