Finance is broadly defined as the art and science of making decisions involving money. In the finance program at Salisbury University, you’ll learn exactly how banking institutions, corporations and markets operate and how they stay in compliance with government regulations. The finance industry continues to evolve at a dizzying pace, but SU is up to date with the latest in the field and will keep your skills fresh. Our finance major provides you with a broad background in corporate finance, international finance, investments and financial markets/institutions. It prepares you for a career in corporate treasury functions and financial service firms such as commercial and investment banks, securities firms, money management firms, insurance companies, real estate companies and financial planning organizations.
During their senior year, SU students have an opportunity to complete an internship at a variety of business, government or nonprofit organizations. Students in this major may also take part in the Practicum in Portfolio Management, an innovative program designed around a student-managed investment fund, managing a portion of the University endowment. At SU, the experience our students receive is real.
For those interested in this field, but not wanting to major in it, SU also offers a finance minor.

Meet Your Finance Faculty:
Ani Mathers
Dr. Ani Mathers is the faculty advisor for the Financial Management Association at SU, which helps students connect to career and networking opportunities as well as engage with real-world learning opportunities outside of the classroom. Her research focuses on empirical corporate finance and liquidity, including credit line usage and cash holdings. She encourages her students to be engaged with the community to seek opportunity and make meaningful connections, and she personally volunteers for Junior Achievement to bring financial education to K-12 classrooms. She was awarded with the Outstanding Contribution to Student Life honor, presented by SU’s Center for Student Involvement and Leadership.
