Health and Human Performance Program Admission
Application Requirements
Prerequisites for the M.S. in Health and Human Performance program include completion of a baccalaureate degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. (Applicants with a cumulative GPA between 2.75 and 2.99 may be considered.) Prerequisite undergraduate coursework for all candidates includes:
- Human Anatomy and Physiology (eight credit hours, e.g., BIOL 215 & 216)
- Exercise Physiology (four credit hours, e.g., EXSC 344)
- Stress Testing and Exercise Prescription (four credit hours, e.g., EXSC 472)
- Kinesiology or Biomechanics (four credit hours, e.g., EXSC 333)
Equivalent transfer (from another institution) coursework will be evaluated for satisfying prerequisites prior to admission. Students with a GPA > 3.0 lacking prerequisite coursework may be granted conditional admission by agreeing to complete prerequisite coursework within the first-year of the program.
Admission to the program requires applicants to complete an Application for Graduate Admission at Salisbury University – visit the Graduate Studies Office for details – and the following program-specific requirements:
- Two letters of recommendation.
- One-page personal letter stating your career goals.
- Submission of the Graduate Record Examination. Results will be used for advisement purposes only.
International Students
For international students, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language System (IELTS) test scores are required. The minimum TOEFL test scores in the following areas are required for admission:
- Reading Skills: 22
- Listening Skills: 22
- Speaking Skills: 25
- Writing Skills: 24
The minimum IELTS test scores are:
- Reading Skills: 6.5
- Listening Skills: 6.5
- Speaking Skills: 7.0
- Writing Skills: 7.0
