FEATURE FRIDAY at THE BRICK ROOM

SU Faculty and Staff are the stars of the show each month at The Brick Room - 116 N. Division Street, Salisbury. Performances are free, however you must be 21+ to enter. Mingling begins at 5:30 pm, performances are 6:00 - 7:00 pm.

Friday, December 13 - Martha Pfeiffer is a graduate of SU, and has been directing, performing and teaching theatre for over 40 years. Recently retired after 30 years in public education, most recently as the Director of the Cape Henlopen Theatre Academy, Ms. Pfeiffer now works with the PRESTO program as a theatre, voice and movement instructor.

Martha Pfeiffer will be joined by a fabulous group of actors, singers and dancers united to spread some holiday cheer. The season serves as a catalyst to bring some of the areas' finest performers together in a holiday extravaganza!

Augustine DiGiovanna on Steele Drums

Friday, November 8 - Retired biology professor, Augustine DiGiovanna, always loved steel drum music and became seriously interested in learning to play after retirement. He played as a busker on the Ocean City boardwalk and at the Hebron Fireman’s Carnival as he continued to hone his skills. Eventually, Augustine was invited to play at charity events, weddings and parties.

He continues to grow and diversify his musical interests. Two years ago, Augustine joined a three-member band playing spiritual music at Asbury United Methodist Church and playing at area charitable events.

Friday, September 13 - Trombonist Lee Knier of SU’s Music, Theatre and Dance Department, is the director of the Salisbury Pops at SU, and has served as interim conductor of the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, assistant conductor of the New Jersey Youth Symphony and assistant director of bands at Temple University.

Knier performs regularly with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony. He has also performed with the St. Peter by the Sea Orchestra, Metro Lyric Opera Orchestra, Garden State Philharmonic, Brookdale Big Band, Tex Benecke and the Modernaires, and the Steel Pier Show Band. He also has toured with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra and the Glenn Miller Orchestra with Buddy DeFranco.

Friday, October 11 - Danielle Cumming, the head of guitar studies at SU, has performed as a soloist and in chamber ensembles in the United States, Canada and Europe. She holds a Doctorate of Music in guitar performance from McGill University. 

She is a classical guitarist whose performances have been broadcast nationally in the U.S. and Canada. She has given recitals, taught master classes and served on international guitar competition juries in North America and Europe. Her solo album, postcards, features a 20th-century repertoire with world music influences.
