M.S.A.T. Curriculum

The athletic training program follows a cohort model that requires all students to be enrolled full time for two academic years, including summer sessions. Matriculation of a cohort begins during the Summer I session. The curriculum is unique in that the first year (including summers) is completed in person at Salisbury University. All second year courses are taught in an on-line format to allow for a variety of immersive clinical opportunities off-site.

The curriculum features 42 credit hours of coursework specifically devoted to the athletic training domains. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 with grades no lower than a C and no more than six credit hours of C or C+ in the program. Once formally admitted to SU's athletic training program, students are required to complete two years of clinical experiences and demonstrate mastery of clinical proficiencies through four successive clinical proficiency courses: ATTR 505, 555, 605, and 655. Students are required to complete a minimum of 180 (300 maximum) clinical experience hours under direct preceptor supervision as part of each proficiency course.
