SU Alumna Among Nation's Top CPA Exam Scorers

AICPASALISBURY, MD---Following her graduation from Salisbury University in May 2013, it didn’t take Valerie Sheehan long to make her mark on the accounting world.

Less than a year after receiving her B.S. in accounting from SU’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business, the Abingdon, MD, graduate has received the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA’s) Elijah Watt Sells Award.

The honor is presented each year to those scoring at least 95.5 on all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination and passing all four sections in their first attempt. Sheehan joined only 54 others nationwide in achieving that accomplishment in 2013. The award has been given since 1923.

“The CPA Examination is designed to protect the public interest and help ensure that only qualified individuals earn a CPA license,” said Michael Decker, AICPA director of examinations. “On behalf of the AICPA, I would like to congratulate the winners of the 2013 Elijah Watt Sells Award for their impressive achievement.”

Sheehan is employed with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Baltimore.
