EEO Conference Scheduled October 15

SALISBURY, MD---Human resource management and employment laws are constantly changing. Courts render decisions that directly impact how business is conducted.

Providing an update on laws that could affect businesses, Salisbury University’s Center for Professional Development, the Eastern Shore Society for Human Resource Management, and the workplace law firm of Shawe & Rosenthal, LLC, of Baltimore present an equal opportunity law and labor conference 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, at SU.

The conference focuses on equal employment opportunity law and includes up-to-date information regarding recent Supreme Court rulings. Topics include the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, sexual harassment, Title VII and the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Speakers include Arthur Brewer and Traci Burch of Shaw & Rosenthal. Brewer has extensive experience in all aspects of labor law with an emphasis on the litigation of labor disputes. He is chief negotiator for the Delmarva Poultry Association in its collective bargaining negotiations.

Burch represents management with respect to traditional labor matters, including elections and unfair labor practice charges. She has defended clients in such areas as gender, age, race and disability discrimination, as well as wrongful discharge and employment tort litigation.
