SU Senior Graphic Designer's Poem Published in Collection

SALISBURY, MD---Michael Cooper, senior graphic designer in the Salisbury University Publications Office, recently was published in the book Twilight Musings, a compilation of poems published by The International Library of Poetry in Owings Mills, MD. The book includes Cooper’s poem, My Autumn Backyard.

Raised on the Eastern Shore, Cooper now resides in Salisbury, where the poem was based. He was inspired by a scene in his backyard on a fall day with leaves changing and the last glimpses of birds before winter’s cold. An artist, he said the color inspired him to write.

“I think art is to poetry as poetry is to art,” he said. “My poem is about the color and mood as the seasons change. Art is all about color and psychology. They’re both about the creative process.”

Cooper is a graduate of Parkside High School and was a Maryland Distinguished Scholar in art. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Maryland Institute College of Art and a Master of Fine Arts in painting from American University. He exhibits annually at the Rehoboth Art League in Rehoboth Beach, DE. For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu. "
