SU Pub Night @ the Library Celebrates Faculty, Staff Achievements

SU Pub Night SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s fourth annual Pub Night @ the Library celebrated faculty and staff research, publications, creative works, scholarly achievements and academic service.

During the event in Blackwell Library, Dr. Diane Allen, provost and senior vice president of academic affairs, talked about the challenges of grant writing and thanked those who take the risk. “We have been very successful for a university our size in earning grant funding,” she said.

Dr. Deborah Mathews, chair of the Social Work Department, was spotlighted for securing over $1 million in external funding awards, joining some 16 other SU faculty and staff members at that platinum level.

“Not only is Dr. Mathews great at being a principal investigator for these grants, but she also is leading SU’s new Office of Innovation in Teaching and Learning and chairing the department that houses the University’s largest graduate program – the Master of Social Work,” said Dr. Clifton Griffin, dean of graduate studies and research.

Mathews has overseen federal Title IV-E grants for training students to enter the child welfare workforce, as well as state grants from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and Maryland State Department of Education for the Behavioral Health Integration in Pediatric Primary Care (B-HIPP) program.
