SU Presents Foreign Language Week Film Series March 1-4

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Modern Languages Department hosts a film series to celebrate National Foreign Language Week Monday-Friday, March 1-5.

The German Club inaugurates the series with a screening of 1996’s Beyond Silence Monday, March 1. The film follows a woman who spends most of her life as a translator for her deaf-mute parents. When she becomes a successful clarinetist, she must choose between her music and her parents who cannot appreciate it.

The Spanish Club presents 2002’s Talk to Her Wednesday, March 3. The movie examines the lives of two men who share an odd friendship while caring for their comatose girlfriends.

The French Club rounds out the series Thursday, March 4, with 1991’s Diva. In the romantic thriller, a teen-ager secretly records the concert of a superstar diva, unwittingly ending up with a tape identifying a mobster involved in an international sex and drug ring. The film finds him on the run from blackmailers, hit men and the police through the streets of Paris.

All films begin at 7 p.m. in the classroom of the Honors House on Camden Avenue. Admission is free and the public is cordially invited.
