SU Hosts Second Annual Classical Guitar Festival April 10

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s second annual Classical Guitar Festival on Saturday, April 10, offers young guitarists the opportunity to perform in master classes, a playing competition and a Festival Ensemble.

Registration and check-in are 9:30-10 a.m. in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall. Following classes, the day concludes with a 3 p.m. concert by soloist Troy King, as well as the Participants’ Ensemble and special guests The Levine School guitar ensemble, directed by Risa Carlson.

This year, the Festival Ensemble premieres a new work by D.J. Sparr, which the composer will conduct. Among the teachers on the festival faculty are National Public Radio host and educator Larry Snitzler, Towson University guitar professor Troy King, and Salisbury University professor and festival director Danielle Cumming.

Registration is $25 for participants, $15 for active parents, which includes all classes, activities and lunch. For those attending the concert only, a donation of $5 is suggested.

Classes are open to all ages; however, competitions are limited to guitarists ages 18 and under. Pre-registration is recommended. To pre-register or for more information, call Cumming at 410-677-3269 or visit the SU Web site at
