SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University honors some 1,800 outstanding scholars and student leaders at its 81st annual Spring Honors Convocation 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 4, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.

Chancellor William E. Kirwan brings greetings from the University System of Maryland to this year’s convocation. The colorful ritual includes the procession of faculty in full regalia, the pomp and circumstance of the University mace and flag, the SU Chorale and Chamber Choir, and the singing of the Alma Mater. The ceremony is a tradition which dates back to the founding of the University in 1925.

Recognizing students in all areas of academic life, some 160 departmental awards, scholarships and other honors will be given.  Among this year’s awards is the first ever Lucy Tull Scholarship, which was established through a recent $5.3 million dollar bequest to benefit nursing students.
