SU Counseling Services Presents 'Straight Talk on Eating Disorders' February 27

SALISBURY, MD---About one in four Americans suffer from an eating disorder, according to the National Institutes of Health.

In an effort to help raise awareness of these problems, Salisbury University Student Counseling Services sponsors the panel discussion “Straight Talk on Eating Disorders” 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, in the Nanticoke Room of the Guerrieri University Center.

The presentation is held in connection with National Eating Disorders Awareness Week. Participants include Barbara Israel, Melinda Brett, M.S., R.D. L.P.C.; and Kate Cerulli, M.S., R.D., L.D.

Israel shares her journey of recovery from both anorexia and bulimia. Her struggle with eating disorders began at age 14 and lasted for six years. She has been in recovery for more than 30 years.

Brett is a licensed clinical professional counselor and dietitian with 24 years of experience. She specializes in treating eating disorders.

Cerulli is SU’s dietitian and also has worked in clinical dietetics in hospital and nursing home settings. She has taught nutrition courses to both nursing and culinary arts students.
