SU Celebrates Constitution Day Monday, September 18

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University celebrates the 10th anniversary of Constitution Day with Dr. Sue Davis, political science professor from the University of Delaware, 7 p.m. Monday, September 18, in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall.

Davis speaks on “Civil Liberties, Presidential Power and the War on Terrorism.” She is the author of several books, including Understanding the Constitution (2004), American Political Thought: Four Hundred Years of Ideas and Ideologies (1996), Justice Rehnquist and the Constitution (1989) and Elizabeth Cady Stanton: Women’s Rights and the American Political Traditions, due out in 2007.

Constitution Day is an initiative of the non-profit organization Constitution Day Inc., to raise awareness of the constitution throughout the United States. While Constitution Day traditionally is celebrated September 17, many nationwide celebrations are taking place this year on September 18 because September 17 falls on a Sunday.

Sponsored by the Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE), Davis’ talk is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-677-5045 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
