Nabb Center Presents 'Wetipquin: A Discussion' September 18

SALISBURY, MD---Author and retired educator Edward T. Taylor discusses his memoirs and speaks on his recently published novel On Yonder’s End during the presentation “Wetipquin: A Discussion” 2 p.m. Saturday, September 18.

It is at the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury University’s East Campus Complex, 190 Wayne Street.

Taylor grew up in Wetipquin and graduated from high school in Salisbury in 1948. After spending two years as a lumberjack, he served as a combat infantry soldier in the Korean War at age 19. Earning degrees from Bowie State University and SU, he spent 35 years serving families on the Delmarva Peninsula as a teacher, counselor and school administrator before becoming a 12-year member of the Wicomico County Council.

His memoirs, Just God and Me: A Korean War Veteran Remembers and Up From the Strawberry Patch, recount his experiences in the military and in rural Wetipquin. His newest work, On Yonder’s End, marks his first venture into fiction. Based on the experiences of Taylor and his relatives, it follows an African-American family through several generations, from slavery and the Civil War to the civil rights movement of the 20th century and beyond.
