Combined Business Forces Present Business Success Seminars December 10, 17 and January 21
The first presentation, "Economic and Stock Market Outlook," will be by Dr. Robert Sweet, chief economist and managing director of Allied Investment Advisors (a subsidiary of the First National Bank of Maryland) and investment manager for selected institutional portfolios, on Thursday, December 10. Taking place at noon in SSUâs Guerrieri University Center, the fee is $20 and includes lunch and supporting presentations by the Perdue School of Business.
Sweet, who has 25 years of asset management and economic analysis experience, has served as an investment consultant to international organizations in Singapore, Chile, Venezuela, Korea, the Slovak Republic and Uzbekistan.
The series continues on Thursday, December 17, with a presentation by Champe McCulloch, president of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Action Network (CAN). His presentations, "Key Issues and Major Concerns to the Business Community Facing the 1999 Maryland Legislative Session" and "Issues the Maryland Chamber of Commerce has Determined as Critical to Improving the Stateâs Business Climate" are from noon-1:30 p.m. at the Salisbury Ramada Inn and Conference Center. The fee is $12 for Chamber and CAN members, and $15 for non-members.
On January 21, the Chamberâs Annual Economic Forecast will round out the program with detailed analysis and projections for Eastern Shore major industries on the program. The session also features a presentation, "Information on Developing Overseas Trade Opportunities," by the State of Maryland Office of International Business. Displays and information booths will also be set up. Beginning at 8 a.m. in the Worcester Room of the Commons on the SSU campus, the fee of $35 for Chamber members and $45 for non-members includes continental breakfast.
The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerceâs January general membership luncheon will follow the program; fee is $12.
Also available through the "Business Success" program is a free review of marketing and business plans to maximize opportunities based on the information from the seminars. A free, one-hour session will be provided with either a business planner and marketer from General Business Services, SCORE or the Eastern Shore representative of the Department of Business and Economic Development.
