What Sets Us Apart?
The Bobbi Biron Theatre
Program and the Dance Program are presented
as integral parts
of a broad-based liberal arts education.
This means that our 90 majors and minors are engaged in the
challenging and meaningful study of theatre and dance as a means
of communication, cultural
expression and creativity. It also means that
our students will graduate as scholars, writers, and
Our small classes ensure that each student
is a familiar face who receives individual attention in the
classroom, and by extension, the rehearsal or advising setting.
The mix of theoretical and
applied coursework is balanced by design and performance
experiences that require participation in all aspects of
production. This combination develops skills, knowledge,
and a professional work ethic that prepare
our students to enter professional and related fields, pursue
graduate study, and participate as
discerning educated consumers and supporters of the arts.
The Department's Theatre and Dance Season
mainstage productions runs parallel
to the academic year
and provides performance opportunities
for all university students. The Bobbi Biron
Theatre presents a range of plays from the 18th century to the
present. The SU
Dance Company is
regarded as "a
consistently quality organization . . . one of the more
innovative of local arts ensembles in terms of its repertoire
and its use of guest artists in residence."
Sophanes is the student theatre club.

positive force and I am eternally grateful."
