New
Perdue School
of Business
During the Fall, 2009 the official
groundbreaking for the new Franklin P. Perdue School of Business
Building will take place with completion expected in the Summer,
2011. The new Perdue building will serve as both the home and a
symbol of the growing prestige of the Perdue School’s business
programs. "Now, we will have a home befitting of the quality and
growing reputation of the Perdue School of Business," according
to Richard Hoffman, Interim Dean.
The 112,800 square foot building is located at
the Bateman Street entrance of the SU campus opposite Henson
Science Hall and Maggs Gym. The neo-Georgian brick building will
consist of two wings, each three stories high. The new building
will have many features, heretofore, not readily available to
Perdue School students including: a 200 seat auditorium,
specialized labs, team study rooms, 20 classrooms dedicated to
business programs, business outreach suite, student services
center, and technology throughout.
This project has been in the planning stages since 2005 and
made possible by an initial $8 million gift from the Arthur W.
Perdue Foundation. State appropriations and a capital campaign
provide the balance of the funding.

Core Business Knowledge Exam (CBKE)
The Perdue School of Business has set specific and measurable learning
goals. The very first of these learning goals states that upon
graduation, students will be knowledgeable about business concepts and
able to apply that knowledge. To ensure that this goal is being met, the
Core Business Knowledge exam was designed to measure student learning.

An innovative change to the
Information Systems major is in effect beginning
Fall 2009. The new major curriculum is designed to
provide students with the flexibility needed to
prepare for a host of different career paths. The
new flexibility also improves the fit between the
Information Systems major and other Perdue School
majors while increasing the number of courses that
may apply to more than one major.
