SU Participates in Salisbury Jaycees Christmas Shopping Tour

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University faculty, staff and students helped make the holidays a little brighter for less fortunate area youth this year, volunteering with the Salisbury Jaycees during the organization’s annual Children’s Christmas Shopping Tour. Some 150 volunteers—more than half from SU—took some 200 local children shopping at the Salisbury Wal-Mart prior to Christmas. Using money raised by the Jaycees, the children bought presents for their families and loved ones. “I was personally touched by the outpouring of support from SU and the community,” said Melanie Pepper, the Jaycees’ 2003 president and an administrative assistant with the SU Foundation. The Jaycees are a group of men and women age 21-39 who come together to strengthen their leadership development skills through community service.
